Plein-air painting is her forte’. Teddi-Jann has participated in Paint-out events in Camden, Eastport, Waldoboro, Millinocket, Blue Hill, Presque Isle and Bangor. She has hiked Mount Katahdin and along the cliffs at Monhegan Island with canvases and or panels and back pack filled with paints to find the perfect painting spot. Sometime the perfect scene is right in her backyard, such as her late mother-in-law’s Iris bulbs that proliferated into purple blooms that she captured in her painting: “Alice’s Irises”. “My paint brushes tell a story for your eyes”, Teddi-Jann says. “As I use enhanced hues and distinct compositions to highlight Maine’s natural world, villages, traditions and customs. To me, pink granite is actually fuchsia, mauve, purple and lavender. Skunk cabbages come to life in the Orono Bog, or Bangor Bird sanctuaries. Katahdin is a chameleon of color in Baxter State Park, Cadillac wears a crusted crown in Acadia National Park and the fishing boats work their magic in Stonington, Eastport or Castine and Swan’s Island. These places are truly “home” to me. I believe when an artist has deep feelings for their subjects only then can their created image splash life onto the canvas and speak to the viewer intimately. My passion is to depict the splendid State of Maine so that you will fall in love with her too!” View Teddi-Jann’s work on line at Teddi-JannCovell.com and follow her on twitter @Teddijann, Facebook Paint ME, LLC.
